The Wine
The 2019 Old Salt is named after the characters who farm these two sites in the Eola-Amity Hills—one a former sailboat racer in his day and the other a multi-generational farmer who always has a wise word and a chuckle to offer. The Muska and Crannell vineyards lie across Eola Hills Road from each other but have distinct personalities. One commonality, however, is the strong influence of the volcanic Nekia soil they’re planted in that brings forth a salty minerality we enjoy. This special blend celebrates the distinct personalities of these vineyards and the old salts who farm them.
A long-awaited return to a cooler, more classic Willamette Valley vintage, the 2019 Old Salt Pinot Noir brings forth bright shades of red raspberry and pomegranate layered over an interplay of quenching acidity and crunchy salinity that leads the way to a long, savory and sanguine finish.
