The Wine

Peaks and Valleys Pinot Noir is a selection of the Pommard clone from two vineyards that we cherish: Kalita, at high elevation in the Yamhill Carlton AVA (Peaks), is bringing strength, structure, dark fruit, vibrancy and concentration, while Clos Gallia, at lower elevation (Valleys) in the Ribbon Ridge AVA brings elegance, finesse, roundness and floral components. From hand selection of perfect Pommard clusters followed by a whole-cluster fermentation in an open wooden barrel, it was then aged in a new French oak barrel for 14 months in our cool cellar. This wine combines, in a complex and seductive way, two facets of our beautiful Willamette region.

Learn more about this lot during Preview Week, when winemaker Bruno Corneaux will present the wine during a virtual tasting session on July 27. Register here.

The Winery

Divio refers to the early name of Dijon, the capital of Burgundy, where Bruno Corneaux grew up and also the source of most Pinot noir clones grown in the Willamette Valley. Bruno, a fourth-generation Burgundian vintner, fell in love with Oregon during an internship in 1996. Years later, in 2012, he created his own winery, Domaine Divio, to make premium wines from Burgundian varietal grapes sourced in the Willamette Valley. Bruno established Clos Gallia, the Estate vineyard, in the Ribbon Ridge AVA in 2014 and is farming it through biodynamic practices to produce elegant wines in a traditional Burgundian style.
