The Wine
The 2016 Willamette Auction Pinot noir from Dusky Goose is a unique blend with fruit sourced from two of our estate vineyards, Rambouillet and Fennwood. Rambouillet Vineyard is situated perfectly in the Dundee Hills, contributing dark cherry and dried rose petals to the aromatics. Fennwood Vineyard, located in Yamhill-Carlton, has the classic earth tones coming from that AVA. The palate brings an opening bright tartness that is quickly overwhelmed by a mid-palate juiciness that leaves us thinking of candied Marasca cherries. The finish is long and bright, feathering into a perfect ending.
The Winery
Dusky Goose is a limited-production, distinctive Pinot noir, skillfully crafted by Lynn Penner-Ash into a seductively elegant wine with defining depth and character. Proprietors John and Linda Carter have worked with Lynn since the winery was established in 2002 to create a distinctive profile and complex structure one can clearly recognize as Dusky Goose. John and Linda farm three estate vineyards, all LIVE certified, with a commitment to low-impact viticulture and low yields, making an authentic, limited-production wine possible without compromising the integrity of the fruit, vines or land.
