The WIne

“People generally see what they look for, and hear what they listen for.” Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

Named for Atticus Finch in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus is a small Pinot noir vineyard with big personality in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. We have been working with Atticus Vineyard since 2010. Much like Atticus Finch the character, this vineyard has been sustainably farmed with honor and integrity.

The resulting vibrant violet-hued wine features a clear cedar, subtle vanilla and brown spice nose. The palate provides an unadorned framework of well-built tannins and vivid acid. The fruit, true to its Willamette Valley roots, features no-nonsense cherry with a hint of blueberry and an honest backbone of tea leaf tannins and wet slate. Early in the aging process, this wine sang for us. Can you hear its melody too?

“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

The Winery

Raptor Ridge was founded 25 years ago to share the joy of wine growing, bringing purpose though connection with land, community and industry. Named for a ridge in the Chehalem Mountains, Raptor Ridge is a haven for birds and winery guests alike. We offer revitalizing vine-side tastings, chef-inspired pairings, curated tastings, and yoga retreats in a tranquil setting with four Cascade mountain tops in view. In addition to our Laurelwood-grown Estate Pinots and Grüner Veltliner, we also source sustainably farmed fruit from a rich tapestry of select Willamette Valley sites for our portfolio.
