The Wine
This wine is from the Lewman Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills, established on shallow volcanic soils in 1996. It sits on a small flat bench of land between the Bethel Heights and Justice vineyards, and produces some of the most remarkable fruit in the AVA. 50% whole cluster, in the fermenter for 33 days and aged in a single 500-liter puncheon, this wine carries the perfect assemblage of dry extract, fruit, tannin and acidity.
The 2019 Goodfellow Family Cellars First Pick is a composition of bright floral notes, spice box, mid-weight fruits and soft flow through the midpalate that firms up into a fine-boned, cellar-worthy Pinot noir that can be enjoyed in youth, but will be well worth aging for 10 to 20 years.
